I had the pleasure of being invited to a meal at my friend's home, to experience the culinary genius that is Kasia Sikora.
I can quite happily say that it was the best meal I have eaten in a very long time (if not ever). The attention to detail, combination of tastes, textures and ingredients were inspiring.
Kasia clearly cooks with passion and dedication, and I could see how much she cared about the preparation and presentation of the food.
The meal began with seared salmon, which was rare (almost sushi) but beautifully complimented by sesame seeds and spiralled vegetables. Very light, upbeat and incredible tasty to start. The main course however for me was the main event. We were served steak (cooked to our own preferences), which was so tender it melted in the mouth, with truffle mash and asparagus. Everything cooked to perfection, just the right portion size - not too big/small, and everyone around the table agreed on it being the best steak we'd tasted.
I gather it had been marinated for two days, and Kasia clearly selects the best herbs, spices and ingredients. Dessert was the perfect finale - a panna cotta cup with zingy berry layers, to leave us all with a sweet taste after an extraordinary meal. On a personal note, Kasia is charming, professional, calm, organised, and most importantly - an incredible chef. And all enjoyed in the comfort of a home setting - I'd definitely book her in the future.
